Put a wheel on the magic tournament

1. This is about the time when "Be My Baby" by the Ronettes was first transmitted via radio signals. 3 of us were standing around in the cold on the street and it came over my transistor radio, the one that looked like the front end of a 54 Studebaker. Even on that puny 9v thing, it sounded all stentorian, like a high-heeled marching band going to some sort of sex war. We were kidding each other about maybe "taking Hilda into the weeds." (This was our adolescent term for getting busy with a girl. Also, the weeds were the only available place to get busy. Also, it was socially acceptable or commonplace back then). However, none of that happened.

2.This is being written on the back of a NYT "100 Notable Books" article print out. Now its not though, its in this stupid fucking blog, right?

3. The Avanti dealership (Studebaker's last gasp) was around the corner from where we heard "Be My Baby".

4. I forget the other part, which was really good.

5. The other time, we heard "Shake a Tail Feather" by the Five Dutones. (You could look up the release dates of those two singles to figure out the time elapsed). We also heard, "Tell Him I'm Not Home" by Chuck Jackson. I was with different people and we were running about like idiots, for some reason.

6. Then, a long time after that, "Hey, Jude" was a big single and I was in college and it was when I started trying to melt buildings with my mind.

7. You are a punk but you will never read this.

9 . They left out the two books I considered notable: Like a Rolling Stone and American Gothic. Theys fools at NYT.

10. Astounding!
